Owner: Richard Childress
Childress’ accomplishments have branched out beyond racing. Childress Vineyards, established in 2003, is an award-winning winery located on 65 acres in the Yadkin Valley appellation just south of the RCR complex in Lexington, N.C. In July 2008, the Childress family teamed up with Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center to form the Childress Institute for Pediatric Trauma in Winston-Salem, N.C. The Institute will focus on key areas in treatment, education and training, research and prevention of pediatric trauma. The Institute’s goal is to help pave the way for others in the nation searching for ways to help save the lives of severely injured children and help those who survive on the road to recovery. Its 2010 Sprint Cup Series lineup includes Kevin Harvick (No. 29 Shell-Pennzoil), Jeff (No. 31 Caterpillar) and Clint Bowyer (No. 33 Cheerios/Hamburger Helper). John Wes Townley will represent RCR in the Nationwide Series behind the wheel of the No. 21 Zaxby's Chevrolet while Childress' grandson - Austin Dillon - will try his hand in the Camping World Truck Series behind the wheel of the No. 3 Bass Pro Shops Chevrolet.
